Due to the tremendous support we have received over the years, Friends of Marty is proud to extend its scholarship program to Saint Peter’s University (where Marty played baseball). We are proud and honored to introduce Michael Ionta, a catcher like Marty, as the first recipient.

Michael was born in Westfield, NJ where he attended Westfield High School. He was a standout baseball player for the Blue Devils with a robust .403 batting average his senior year. That performance caught the eye of many college scouts, but it would be Marty’s own Saint Peter’s that nabbed this star catcher. He attends Saint Peter’s as a Biology major.

We are excited for him to carry on the tradition of being a Friends of Marty scholarship awardee and welcome Michael, and by extension his entire family, into the Friends of Marty family.

Congratulations Michael and best of luck reaching your goals!
